Our Philosophy
At Rise and Shine, we believe children learn best through meaningful relationships, rich language experiences, engaging storytelling, and purposeful play. Our curriculum is thoughtfully adapted to meet each child's stage of development, creating a continuous learning journey from infancy through preschool.
We believe stories are powerful tools that help children:
- Build language and communication skills
- Develop social-emotional understanding
- Strengthen creativity and critical thinking
- Foster curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning
- Experience joy, connection, and a sense of belonging
At the heart of our program is our proprietary story series, The Adventures of McDuff & Friends.
These stories are thoughtfully created for our children and are not simply read, they are experienced through daily interactions, routines, conversations, creative play, music, movement, and hands-on learning experiences.
As children grow, so do the stories. While infants experience gentle language, comforting routines, and sensory exploration, toddlers engage through interactive play, repetition, and imaginative experiences. Preschoolers build upon those familiar foundations through expanded vocabulary, early literacy, problem-solving, science, art, dramatic play, and collaborative learning activities that encourage deeper thinking and creativity.
Through beloved characters like McDuff, Scruffy, Molly, Duncan, and Pembrooke, children explore themes of kindness, friendship, empathy, perseverance, responsibility, and problem-solving in developmentally appropriate ways that grow alongside them.
To further enrich these experiences, our educators bring each story to life using custom puppets, music, songs, sensory materials, creative art, dramatic play, STEM explorations, and hands-on activities that transform every story into a meaningful learning adventure.
